McCarthy Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has recently acquired an interest in land on the eastern side of Harrier Way, Petersfield and is bringing forward proposals for a new specialist extra care community. This proposal is designed to help address the needs of Petersfield’s growing ageing population.

Our Vision

Our vision involves redeveloping the site to provide specialist extra care accommodation, together with a Bistro, indoor communal facilities and associated on-site car parking spaces.

Project Status – May 2023 Update

As you will likely be aware, McCarthy Stone submitted an application for the above site’s redevelopment in September 2022 for specialist Extra Care accommodation comprising of 101 specialist Extra Care apartments, chalets and bungalows alongside outdoor spaces for residents and communal facilities.

McCarthy Stone has subsequently resubmitted a series of amendments to the proposals, that have sought to respond to feedback received both during and after the original submission and from the public consultation held in July 2022.

The amended application has made a number of revisions to the scheme and landscaping layout, including reducing the number of dwellings proposed from 106 down to 101 and revising the height and appearance of the block of apartments.

We remain committed to delivering this much-needed specialist retirement accommodation of this site. The regeneration of this site offers the opportunity to provide a sensitive redevelopment that will help fulfil a local need for this type of accommodation for older people.
