Our Approach to Design

Our design approach was driven by an extension of parkland landscaped terraces into the site. The building footprints work with existing topography and levels as best possible with split storey buildings while prioritising level access for residents.

Character areas across site were informed by the character of the local area with a contemporary reference to design features and materials that reflect the local identity of Sidmouth.

There are also two Grade II listed buildings adjacent to the site, including The Summerhouse and Balfour Lodge. Our proposals therefore look to maintain a positive and sensitive relationship with these heritage assets nearby to the site.
