Local need and benefits

There is a significant need for this type of development both nationally and locally, and it is important that communities address the current and future needs of their residents.

The Mid Sussex Housing for Older People Topic Paper 2020 states that “the need to provide housing for older people is critical” and that “the District Plan … supports housing development to meet the current and future needs of older people.” This development would assist in providing much-needed specialist accommodation for older people and help the Council meet this recognised need, whilst also ensuring the continued provision of commercial space along The Broadway.
